Partners are proud to be on the forefront of producing an environmentally friendly and socially responsible bottled water
product using the first ever "bio-bottle", a revolutionary compostable and certified biodegradable bottle. The "bio-bottle"
is made from NatureWorks, PLA, polymerized lactic acid. The PLA comes from the kernel of the corn where starch is removed
and converted into dextrose. The corn is sourced from producers in Nebraska.
More than 60 million
plastic, petroleum-based water bottles end up in landfills every day, thats almost 40 billion annually. Once there, they will
last for centuries.
Only 22% of plastic bottles are recycled. In order to make
a new plastic bottle from a recycled one, you have to add 80% NEW resin. What does that mean? One plastic bottle can only
make 20% of a new one. 100% of our PLA bottles can be made into new bottles, virtually a one-for-one recycling model.
When deposited in a municipal compost facility, the "bio-bottle"
will completely biodegradable in 50-90 days. In addition, where composting facilities are not yet operational, the "bio-bottle"
is also 100% recyclable along with PET and other recyclable plastics. The "bio-bottle" is a Green-House-Gas-Neutral
Polymer and requires up to 68% less energy to produce than standard plastic bottles.
